| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of the Honorable C. Glenn |
4 |
| "Owlie" Stevens of Belleville on May 18, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, C. Glenn "Owlie" Stevens was born on October 29, |
6 |
| 1941, in Rockford to Dr. Robert W. and Mary Louise (nee |
7 |
| Shaughnessy) Stevens; his parents preceded him in death; and |
8 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from St. Louis University High |
9 |
| School; he then received a Bachelor of Science and a Juris |
10 |
| doctorate from St. Louis University; he was
admitted to the |
11 |
| Illinois and Missouri Bar in 1966, and clerked for Honorable |
12 |
| Omar Poos of the United States District court; he was an |
13 |
| instructor at Saint Louis University Law School, a partner with |
14 |
| Pope & Driemeyer in Belleville, and an associate circuit judge |
15 |
| with St. Clair County for many years; and |
16 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of the Illinois Judges |
17 |
| Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the St. Clair County |
18 |
| Bar Association, and the Missouri Bar Association; in 1965, he |
19 |
| served as president of Phi Delta Phi, the International Legal |
20 |
| Fraternity; he was a veteran of the United States Army and was |
21 |
| included in Who's Who in America; and |
22 |
| WHEREAS, He was very proud of his family, his |
23 |
| accomplishments, and his Irish heritage; he never knew a |
24 |
| stranger; and |
25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable C. Glenn "Owlie" |
26 |
| Stevens will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Suzie |
27 |
| Stevens (nee Corkey); his son, Robert W. (Roberta) Stevens; his |
28 |
| daughter, Angela M. (dear friend Derek) Stevens; his three |
29 |
| grandchildren, Melinda Wade, Matt Wade, and Cameron Hatfield; |
30 |
| his great-grandchild, Skyler Wade; his five sisters, Edna |
