| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Edward B. "Duke" Blair Sr. |
4 |
| of Alton on Monday, May 17, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Blair was born on June 20, 1922, in Alton to |
6 |
| Louis and Evelyn (Kramer) Blair; he and the former Evelyn |
7 |
| Winchell were married July 2, 1945, at St. Mary's Catholic |
8 |
| Church in Alton; she preceded him in death on August 31, 2002; |
9 |
| and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Blair graduated from Alton High School in |
11 |
| 1940, and he graduated in 1947 from the Missouri School of |
12 |
| Mines and Metallurgy with a Bachelor of Science degree; he was |
13 |
| employed for 34 years at Laclede Steel as a chief metallurgist, |
14 |
| retiring in 1981; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Blair valiantly served his country during |
16 |
| World War II in the United States Army and was a member of |
17 |
| Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1308 of Alton; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Edward B. "Duke" Blair Sr. has been |
19 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his sons and daughters-in-law, |
20 |
| Dr. Edward and Barbara Blair Jr. and Steven and Nancy Blair |
21 |
| Sr.; his daughter, Barbara Hasse; his grandchildren, J. Robert |
22 |
| Hasse II and his wife, Beth, Blair Hasse, Rachel, Lindsay, |
23 |
| Regan, Lauren, and Steven Blair Jr.; his great-grandchildren, |
24 |
| Sara and Stephen Hasse; his beloved pet dachshund, Hans; and |
25 |
| his many other family members and friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
28 |
| Edward "Duke" Blair Sr., and we extend our deepest sympathy to |
29 |
| his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
30 |
| further
