| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Milton Thomas Green, Jr., |
4 |
| of Belleville on Friday, May 7, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Milton Thomas Green, Jr., was born on November 1, |
6 |
| 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Milton T. Green, Sr., and |
7 |
| Autherine K. (Woods) Green; he graduated from East St. Louis |
8 |
| Lincoln Senior High School in 1965; he married Rufina Mendiola |
9 |
| in 1970; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, While attending St. Louis University, Mr. Green |
11 |
| valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army and received an |
12 |
| honorable discharge; he earned his bachelor's degree in |
13 |
| philosophy from St. Louis University in 1970 and completed a |
14 |
| master's degree in business administration from Southern |
15 |
| Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1973; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Green began his career as an electrician in |
17 |
| the family-owned business, Green's Electric Company; following |
18 |
| in the footsteps of his father, he became an electrical |
19 |
| inspector for the City of East St. Louis; throughout his |
20 |
| lifetime, he was affiliated with several organizations, |
21 |
| including the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers |
22 |
| (IBEW), the International Association of Inspectors (IAEI), |
23 |
| the Southern Illinois Black Contractor Association, and the |
24 |
| National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA); and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, Among the dedicated years of service to his |
26 |
| community, Mr. Green devoted much of his time to MTG |
27 |
| Enterprises as the owner and operator of MEG Electric, and the |
28 |
| Salvation Army as a board associate; he was a lifelong brother |
29 |
| of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, serving as a former Polemarch |
30 |
| and a committed member; and
|

| WHEREAS, Mr. Green had a strong faith and was a member of |
2 |
| the Voices of Zion Choir; he was known for his melodious |
3 |
| baritone voice and often portrayed the role of Joseph in the |
4 |
| Christmas pageant at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Green frequently took his wife out on dates |
6 |
| and on numerous trips, joked around with his children, and |
7 |
| entertained his three grandchildren; every Sunday, he managed |
8 |
| to spend quality time with his family and friends; he enjoyed |
9 |
| four-wheeling down the coast of the Mississippi River with his |
10 |
| cousin, Frank; he will be remembered for his sense of humor, |
11 |
| his everlasting stories, and his philosophy practiced through |
12 |
| his children; he was always patient, shining, and had a smile, |
13 |
| and was willing to lend a helping hand at any moment; and |
14 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Milton Thomas Green, Jr., has been |
15 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Rufina; his children, |
16 |
| Gina Autherine Green-Moore (David), Milena Elpidia |
17 |
| Green-Willis (Marcellus), Katherine Lois Green, and Milton |
18 |
| Thomas Green, III; his grandchildren, Amina Green, Jasmine |
19 |
| Moore, and Shayna Moore; his sisters, Carolyn Love and Delia |
20 |
| Norde'; his aunt, Theola Green Fitts; and his many other |
21 |
| relatives and friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
23 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
24 |
| Milton Thomas Green, Jr., and we extend our deepest sympathy to |
25 |
| his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
26 |
| further
|
27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to the family of Milton Thomas Green, Jr., as an |
29 |
| expression of our sincere condolences during their time of |
30 |
| bereavement.
