SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of William Joseph "Bill" Fine
4 of Alton on Thursday, April 8, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Fine was born on February 11, 1929, in Mexico,
6 Missouri, to Henry C. and Ida Pearl (Whitley) Fine; he
7 graduated from high school in 1948 in Mexico, Missouri; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Fine valiantly served his country as a
9 corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War; he
10 married the former Evelyn Marie Hardy on February 13, 1953, and
11 they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage; they lived for
12 many years in Granite City before moving to Alton to join the
13 family business, Fine-Burke-Staten Funeral Homes, where he
14 assisted his son, Brian, for the last 12 years; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Fine was a member of the Grace United
16 Methodist Church in Alton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Alton Post
17 1308, and Teamsters Union Local 971; he will be remembered as a
18 dedicated father, grandfather, and friend to many who respected
19 him for his work ethic and many dedications; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of William Joseph "Bill" Fine has been
21 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Evelyn Marie; his
22 sons, Bradley H. (Karen) Fine, Brian S. (Nancy) Fine, and
23 Michael D. Fine; his daughter, Debra Jo (Franklin A.) Hollis;
24 his grandchildren, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Chet (April) Fine,
25 Kyle Fine, Andy Fine, William Julian Fine, Maggie Noelle Fine,
26 Angela Hollis, and Ben (Amy Doucleff) Hollis; his
27 great-grandchildren, Chance Fine, Cherady Fine, and Catherine
28 Rose Hollis; his brothers, James B. (Sandy) Fine and Richard
29 (Nobe) Fine; his sister, Ruth Johnson; his brothers-in-law,
30 James Neely and Richard (Brenda) Brewer; his sister-in-law,
31 Shirley Hardy; and his many nieces, nephews, other extended

1 family, and many dear friends; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 William Joseph "Bill" Fine, and we extend our deepest sympathy
5 to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
6 it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of William Joseph "Bill" Fine as an
9 expression of our sincere condolences.
