SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with great sadness of the death of Ralph H. Ricketts of
4 Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, April 7, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Ralph H. Ricketts was born October 27, 1926 in
6 Hartsville, Indiana to William Ricketts and Mildred (Nighbert)
7 Brown; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Ricketts valiantly served his country during
9 World War II in the U.S. Army; he served with the 82nd Airborne
10 as a paratrooper in the Philippines; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Ricketts married Cheryl Paul on December 28,
12 1948 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport,
13 Iowa; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Mr. Ricketts was Senior
15 Vice President at Davenport Bank and Trust Company; he served
16 on the Board of Governors for the Diocese of Las Cruces, New
17 Mexico, worked for many years with the prison ministry, was
18 actively involved in charities for fund raising for Catholic
19 churches in Las Cruces and Davenport, and was a member of the
20 Elks Club; he was an avid supporter of the Indiana Hoosiers
21 basketball and loved golf; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Ricketts has been deeply felt
23 by many, especially his wife, Cheryl; his daughters and their
24 spouses, Karen and Calvin Hileman, Laura and Richard Norton,
25 Anne and Matthew Blunk, and Mary K. Brent; his sons and their
26 spouses, John and Barbara Ricketts, Jeffrey and Veronica
27 Ricketts, Randy Ricketts, and Matthew and Michelle Ricketts;
28 his 26 grandchildren; and his 7 great-grandchildren;
29 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Ralph H. Ricketts, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
4 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Ralph H. Ricketts as an expression
8 of our sincere condolences.
