| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Ree Hunter on |
4 |
| November 10, 2003; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Ree was born on November 5, 1924 in |
6 |
| Overton, Texas to Willie and Mattie Brown; and |
7 |
| WHEREAS, She attended the Rusk County Public Schools to |
8 |
| receive her early childhood education; and |
9 |
| WHEREAS, Dorothy Ree recognized the love and mercy of God |
10 |
| when still a child, she professed her faith in Christ joining |
11 |
| the Zion Hill Baptist Church of Tatum, Texas; and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, She was given God's grace on August 20, 1946 when |
13 |
| she married her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, George |
14 |
| D. Hunter; and |
15 |
| WHEREAS, Upon relocating to Chicago, Dorothy and George |
16 |
| became affiliated with the first Baptist Institutional Church |
17 |
| under the guidance of Reverend Piper, where they were members |
18 |
| for over 50 years; and |
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Hunter worked at the American Leather and |
20 |
| Suede Company until her retirement; and |
21 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Dorothy R. Hunter will be deeply |
22 |
| felt by many, especially her son, Kevin, Sr.; her three |
23 |
| grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Kawana, and Curtis; her sister, |
24 |
| Hattie Moore; her two sisters-in-law, Orlinda Golliday and |
25 |
| Netti Webb; and a host of relatives and friends; and

| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband in August |
27 |
| 2002; therefore, be it |
