| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Frank Stanley Flider of |
4 |
| Mattoon, father of State Representative Robert Flider, on |
5 |
| Thursday, February 12, 2004; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Frank Stanley Flider was born July 20, 1929, in |
7 |
| Chicago to James and Sophia Kalda Flider; he married Frances |
8 |
| Therese Lysak on February 6, 1954; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Flider was retired as a vice president of |
10 |
| engineering for Justrite Mfg. Co. of Mattoon; he was |
11 |
| instrumental in securing over 25 patents for Justrite over the |
12 |
| course of his career; he was a member of several professional |
13 |
| engineering associations; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Flider valiantly served his country as member |
15 |
| of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; he served as Chief |
16 |
| Training Officer and the ship's artist aboard the U.S.S. Leyte |
17 |
| (CV-32); and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Flider was a member of Immaculate Conception |
19 |
| Roman Catholic Church, VFW Post 4325, the Knights of Columbus, |
20 |
| the United Moravian Societies, and the U.S.S. Leyte Association |
21 |
| (CV-32); as a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic |
22 |
| Church, he served for numerous years as an usher, visited the |
23 |
| elderly, furnished transportation for area residents, and |
24 |
| welcomed new parishioners to the church; his hobbies included |
25 |
| art and golf; most important to him was the love he had for his |
26 |
| family; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Frank Stanley Flider has been |
28 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his loving wife of 50 years, |
29 |
| Frances Therese; his sons, Frank J. Flider and wife, Diane, and |
30 |
| State Representative Robert F. Flider and wife, Jean; his |
