| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of J. Hobart Lock Jr. of |
4 |
| Avon on December 21, 2003; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lock was born on November 19, 1817 in Canton, |
6 |
| the son of J. Hobart Sr. and Ethel Gray Lock; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, He married Marian R. Taylor on November 29, 1943 |
8 |
| in Canton; she preceded him in death on December 11, 1998; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lock was raised in Joshua Township, moved to |
10 |
| rural Avon in 1938 and graduated from Fairview schools; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, An Army veteran of World War II, he served with |
12 |
| the 104th Division in Europe; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lock farmed from 1946 to 1984; he was a member |
14 |
| of the Presbyterian Church in Prairie City, where he was an |
15 |
| elder and Sunday school teacher; he was a director of the |
16 |
| Fulton County Farm Bureau board and was a treasurer of the |
17 |
| Fulton County F.S. board; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of J. Hobart Lock Jr. will be deeply |
19 |
| felt by many, especially his two sons, Terry Dean (and Cherie) |
20 |
| Lock and James Taylor (and Sally) Lock; his daughter, Carolyn |
21 |
| Jane (and Don) Moffitt; his brothers, Kenneth Lock and Dean |
22 |
| Lock; his 10 grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren; |
23 |
| and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death |
25 |
| by his parents; and a brother; therefore, be it |
26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
