| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of Gale Annette Coates on |
| 4 |
| December 16, 2003; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Gale Annette Coates was born in East St. Louis on |
| 6 |
| July 17, 1961 to Cary and Retha Washington; she was the third |
| 7 |
| child of five children; one of whom preceded her in death; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She was a product of the East Saint Louis school |
| 9 |
| system, graduating from Lincoln Senior High School in 1979; she |
| 10 |
| began full-time employment with Dr. Francis Kayria immediately |
| 11 |
| after high school and continued an Associated Applied Science |
| 12 |
| Degree in Information Technology; she used her degree to gain |
| 13 |
| employment with Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri |
| 14 |
| in Patient Accounts; she was supervisor of her division; she |
| 15 |
| continued her education at Harris Stowe State College; she |
| 16 |
| aspired to become a teacher; and |
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, She was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Kevin |
| 18 |
| Coates; to this union one child was born, Jazmin Greunetta |
| 19 |
| Coates and a loving stepson, Jason C. Coates; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Coates accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and |
| 21 |
| Savior and was baptized at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist |
| 22 |
| Church under the pastorship of the Reverend A.G. Williams; in |
| 23 |
| later years, she was united with the Mt. Pisgah Missionary |
| 24 |
| Baptist Church under the pastorship of the late Reverend Dr. |
| 25 |
| R.B. Lyles; she served in many capacities at Mt. Pisgah |
| 26 |
| Missionary Baptist Church; she was head of the New Member's |
| 27 |
| Committee, member of the Month Committee, and Announcement |
| 28 |
| Clerk; she was a faithful member of the Sunday School and |
| 29 |
| Prayer Meetings; and
|
| 30 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gale Annette Coates will be deeply |
