093_SR0321 LRB093 14414 RAH 20071 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the Ninety-Third 3 General Assembly were saddened to learn of the passing of 4 Phyllis Demps Carry on September 13, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry loved the Lord and praised 6 God, and was grateful for the blessed life she lived; and 7 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry was a very intelligent 8 woman, having graduated with honorable mention from Betsy 9 Ross Elementary School, and having been honored as class 10 Valedictorian from Englewood High School; and 11 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry worked for the Chicago Board 12 of Education, the Chicago Public Library, as an 13 administrative assistant, and she was a dedicated community 14 activist for various causes and public officials including 15 Senator Collins; and 16 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry began serving her community 17 as a young woman through the Elite Sub-Debs, Miss Bronze 18 America Club, Englewood Circle Saroines, Junior Auxiliary, 19 Las Chatamas Club, and as a volunteer for Christmas Seals; 20 and 21 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry continued her service 22 through serving as a volunteer secretary to Father George 23 Clements' Holy Angels, Ladies for Lunch Senior Group, Dolton 24 Seniors, Midway Gardens Seniors, Department on Aging 25 Activities, many St. Sabina activities, and received the 26 Chicago Senior Citizen Hall of Fame Award on May 2, 2002; and 27 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry was honest, a good 28 listener, dependable, free-thinking, high-spirited, outgoing, 29 friendly, loving of others, and socially active; and 30 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry enjoyed traveling, dining -2- LRB093 14414 RAH 20071 r 1 out, spending time with family, shopping, giving gifts to 2 others, laughing, reading, and doing senior activities; and 3 WHEREAS, Phyllis Demps Carry's passing will be deeply 4 felt by many, especially her daughter, Judy; her 5 grandchildren, Terence and Traci; her great-grandchildren, 6 Sydnee and Terence Jr. (Simms); her sister, Albertine 7 Woodard; and her many friends; therefore be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 10 Phyllis Demps Carry; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Phyllis Demps Carry as an 13 expression of our sorrow for their loss.
