093_SR0320 LRB093 14415 RAH 20072 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the Ninety-Third 3 General Assembly were saddened to learn of the passing of 4 Janet Johnson Grant on October 17, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant was a devoted mother of two 6 and a passionate lawyer, with a great sense of humor; and 7 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant served as a Special 8 Assistant to the General Superintendent on Labor Affairs for 9 the Cook County Forest Preserve District; and 10 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant was an amateur chef, who 11 enjoyed cooking and entertaining; and 12 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant was especially fond of pigs, 13 and enjoyed collecting pig figurines; and 14 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant was the daughter of the late 15 Robert Johnson, executive editor and publisher of Jet and 16 Ebony magazines; and 17 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant was a vivacious, intelligent 18 woman, and an environmentalist, who knew the name of almost 19 every wildflower; and 20 WHEREAS, Janet Johnson Grant's passing will be deeply 21 felt by many, especially her mother, Naomi "Nemi" Johnson; 22 her husband, McNair Grant Jr.; her two children; her family, 23 and her many friends; therefore be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 26 Janet Johnson Grant; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to the family of Janet Johnson Grant as an 29 expression of our sorrow for their loss.
