093_SR0316 LRB093 13572 RAH 18941 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of Carl John 4 Wittman of Jerseyville on October 18, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Carl John Wittman was born on August 12, 1916 on 6 the family farm near Beltrees in Jersey County to Peter J. 7 and Kunigunda (Wendle) Wittman; and 8 WHEREAS, Carl Wittman married the former Mary Ann "Mayme" 9 Horn on December 30, 1940 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church 10 in Jerseyville; and 11 WHEREAS, A United States Army World War II veteran, Mr. 12 Wittman was employed as a truck driver for more than 30 years 13 for Mundy Lumber Company in Jerseyville, retiring in 1978; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Wittman was a member of the Teamsters Local 16 525 and the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville; in 17 addition, he was the president of the final Jersey County 18 draft board; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Wittman thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, 20 whether it was fishing with his sons and grandsons or putting 21 the finishing touches on his garden that he planted for many 22 years; he was very proud of his family and was known to keep 23 close tabs on each and every one of them, as he made his 24 daily car ride by each one of their homes; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of Carl John Wittman has been deeply 26 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Mary 27 Ann Wittman; his daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Lewie 28 Miles, Helen and Ron Medford, Bonnie and Wayne Seehausen, 29 Hope and Randy Gibson, and Minette and Bob Griffith; his sons 30 and daughters-in-law, George and Margaret Wittman, Jerry and 31 Kathy Wittman, Neal and Cindy Wittman, Vincent and Kay -2- LRB093 13572 RAH 18941 r 1 Wittman, and Gene and Jackie Wittman; his 26 grandchildren; 2 his 32 great-grandchildren; his sister, Catherine Gray; and 3 his brothers, Leo Wittman, Walter Wittman, and Norb Wittman; 4 preceding him in death were his parents, Peter J. and 5 Kunigunda Wittman; his grandson, William C. "Bill" Seehausen; 6 and his brothers, Raymond Wittman, Joseph Wittman, and 7 William Wittman; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 10 all who knew him, the death of Carl John Wittman of 11 Jerseyville; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Carl John Wittman as an expression 14 of our sincerest condolences.
