093_SR0305 LRB093 13672 RAH 19058 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the passing of Beatrice 4 Nebraska Hunter Neely of East St. Louis on October 16, 2003; 5 and 6 WHEREAS, Beatrice Nebraska Hunter was born on August 25, 7 1910 to the late Harrison and Evelyn (nee, Wright) Hunter in 8 Greenville, Mississippi; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Neely relocated to East St. Louis in the 10 early 1920s; she married Luther B. Neely in August, 1946 in 11 Chicago; he preceded her in death; and 12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Neely received her formal education at 13 Southern Illinois University, and during the 1940s became an 14 outstanding educator in East St. Louis Public School District 15 #189; she was a Zeta Phi Beta; and 16 WHEREAS, Mrs. Neely loved and lived life to the fullest 17 and touched many lives and was a joy and source of comfort to 18 the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, serving as church 19 secretary as well as serving in the Church Home Study Club, 20 Sunday School, and various other neighborhood and community 21 organizations; and 22 WHEREAS, The passing of Beatrice Neely has been felt by 23 all who knew and loved her, especially by Clara Person, 24 Quinton Johnson, Evelyn McGee, Arlene Palaggi, Geneva 25 Johnson-Smith, Dr. Obie Rush, and the membership of St. Paul 26 Missionary Baptist Church; therefore, be it 27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 29 all who knew her, the death of Beatrice Nebraska Hunter Neely 30 of East St. Louis; and be it further -2- LRB093 13672 RAH 19058 r 1 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 2 presented to the family of Beatrice Nebraska Hunter Neely as 3 an expression of our sincerest condolences.
