093_SR0290 LRB093 13323 RAH 18604 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of Mary Beatrice 4 DeSherlia on Saturday, August 16, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mary DeSherlia was born Mary Keller on April 7, 6 1930 in Louisiana, Missouri to Charles and Marguerite 7 (Johnson) Keller; and 8 WHEREAS, Mary Keller married William H. DeSherlia, Sr. at 9 St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton on October 1, 1947; 10 they shared 34 years together before his death on February 11 21, 1982; and 12 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeSherlia's parents moved to Grafton 13 shortly after her birth and she was an active member of the 14 Grafton community her entire life; she and her husband 15 operated DeSherlia Fish Market in Grafton for many years, 16 closing the business shortly before his death; and 17 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeSherlia also worked at a young age in 18 Grafton at her parents' business, Keller's Steakhouse, and 19 continued the family business after their death, closing the 20 restaurant in 1982; she was honored as "Senior Miss Grafton" 21 in 1994; and 22 WHEREAS, The passing of Mary DeSherlia has been deeply 23 felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her sons and 24 daughters-in-law, William H. and Terrye DeSherlia, Daniel and 25 Jeneane DeSherlia, Christopher DeSherlia, and Joseph and Jan 26 DeSherlia; her grandchildren, Hope, Billy, Nipper, Karrie, 27 Jennifer, Andy, Mary, Karen, Jacob, Benjamin, and Laura; her 28 stepgrandchildren, Kevin and Kyle; her great-grandchildren, 29 Alexis, Mackenzie, Coby, Cody, Tyler, and Rhylon; her sister 30 and brother-in-law, Margaret and Kenneth Whaley; and her 31 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles "Pat" and Betty Keller -2- LRB093 13323 RAH 18604 r 1 and Larry and Mary Keller; and 2 WHEREAS, Mary DeSherlia was preceded in death by her 3 husband, William DeSherlia, Sr.; her parents, Charles and 4 Marguerite Keller; her great-granddaughter, Angel Hope 5 DeSherlia; her sisters, Betty Jean Goodwin, Theresa Ann 6 Foval, and Sarah "Sally" Holder; and her brothers, William 7 Keller and Michael Keller; therefore, be it 8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 10 of Mary DeSherlia and extend our deepest sympathy to her 11 family, friends, and community; and be it further 12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 13 presented to the family of Mary DeSherlia as an expression of 14 our sincerest condolences.
