093_SR0288 LRB093 13266 RAH 18535 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of John Paul Jubelt 4 on Thursday, August 28, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, John Jubelt was born on April 25, 1929 in Mount 6 Olive to Paul and Iris (Grua) Jubelt; and 7 WHEREAS, John Jubelt married Iris Dawkins Jubelt on April 8 29, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mount Olive; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Jubelt attended Mount Olive Grade School and 10 graduated from Mount Olive High School with the class of 11 1947; he attended Miliken University in Decatur and Shurtleff 12 University in Alton; and 13 WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, 14 Mr. Jubelt owned and operated Jubelt's Bakeries, which was 15 started by his father and two uncles in 1922; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Jubelt was a member of the Zion Lutheran 17 Church in Mount Olive, a longtime member of the Retail Bakers 18 Association, 1971 president, a former chairman of the 19 Macoupin County Board from 1972 to 1984, chairman of the 20 Macoupin County Building Commission during the building of 21 the new jail, a former member of the Mount Olive Lion's Club, 22 the Chamber of Commerce, Homecoming Association chairman, the 23 Centennial Committee, and a former Khoury League Baseball 24 coach; he was also an avid reader and a Chicago Cubs fan; and 25 WHEREAS, The passing of John Jubelt has been deeply felt 26 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Iris 27 Jubelt; his son, Lance Jubelt; his daughter, Jeanmarie 28 Jubelt; his grandchildren, Kimberly and Nicholas Jubelt; his 29 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy McEldowney; 30 therefore, be it -2- LRB093 13266 RAH 18535 r 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 3 of John Jubelt and extend our deepest sympathy to his family, 4 friends, and community; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 6 presented to the family of John Jubelt as an expression of 7 our sincerest condolences.
