093_SR0267 LRB093 13306 KEF 18582 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the tragic death of Robert 4 Koranda of Naperville on June 29, 2003 when a porch collapsed 5 during a party in Chicago; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Koranda was born November 1, 1979 in 7 Winfield; he was a 1998 graduate of Naperville North High 8 School, where he was recognized for numerous honors; he was 9 the captain of the varsity football team and received awards 10 for All-Conference, First Team All-Area, as well as being 11 voted the "Most Valuable Player" by his teammates; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Koranda was a Youth in Government 13 Representative and President of the Huskie Stock Club; he was 14 also an alumnist of the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Foundation; 15 and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Koranda played rugby at Princeton University 17 and received the 2002 Christopher D. Mello Memorial Award for 18 leadership, athleticism, loyalty, and friendship both on and 19 off the rugby pitch; he was a member of the football team and 20 President of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) Fraternity; in 21 addition, he was a member of the University Cottage Club at 22 Princeton; he graduated in 2002; and 23 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by many, 24 especially his parents, Kenneth and Susan Koranda of 25 Naperville; his sister, Katherine Susan (Scott) Tanaka; his 26 brother, John Andrew Koranda; his grandparents, Hugo and 27 Eunice Koranda; his uncles, Allen Koranda and John (Mary) 28 Whitney; his aunts, Janann Koranda and Sue Whitney; his 29 cousins, Kerry (Lisa) Koranda, Kara (Andrew) Pfouts, Krista 30 (J.) Coleman, Kristen, Kimberly, Michael, and Jena Whitney; 31 and -2- LRB093 13306 KEF 18582 r 1 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandparents, 2 Ernest and Laura Whitney; and his uncles, Alan, Stephen, and 3 Kevin Whitney; therefore, be it 4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 6 of Robert A. Koranda along with all who knew and loved him 7 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; 8 and be it further 9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 10 presented to the family of Robert A. Koranda as an expression 11 of our deepest sympathy.
