093_SR0243 LRB093 13210 RAH 18478 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois learned with regret of the death of Edo J. Belli of 4 Long Grove on August 26, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Edo J. Belli was born on January 2, 1918; he was 6 the beloved husband of Tess Belli; and 7 WHEREAS, Mr. Belli was a graduate of the Armour Institute 8 of Technology, now known as the Illinois Institute of 9 Technology; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Belli was president of Belli & Belli 11 Architects and Engineers, Inc.; he began the firm in 1945 12 upon his return from active duty, serving in the United 13 States Navy during World War II; he was joined by his 14 brother, Anthony, and later by his sons, Allen and James; 15 under his leadership, the firm has been recognized for design 16 excellence by the American Institute of Architects, the 17 Association of Licensed Architects, and other professional 18 civic and community organizations; and 19 WHEREAS, In 1993, the Art Institute of Chicago honored 20 him in its symposium entitled "Chicago Architecture and 21 Design 1923-1993" for St. Patrick High School, St. Joseph 22 Hospital, St. Benedict the African Church, and the Miracle 23 House; and 24 WHEREAS, The passing of Edo J. Belli has been deeply felt 25 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Tess 26 Belli; his children, Allen (LuAnn) Belli, James (Karen) 27 Belli, Andrea (Whit) Shepard, and Tina (Gary) Moulton; his 28 grandchildren, Debbie (Stu) Short, Kim (John) Humphreys, 29 Susie (Patrick) Hardiman, Janine (Keith) Hogan, Sabrina, 30 Bianca, Tessa, and Amanda; his great-grandchildren, Michael, 31 Stephanie, Matthew, Jake, Jenna, Megan, Ben, Morgan, Lindsey, -2- LRB093 13210 RAH 18478 r 1 Nick, Allie, and Kayly; and his brother, Anthony (Louise); 2 therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 5 of Edo J. Belli and extend our deepest sympathy to his 6 family, friends, and community; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Edo J. Belli as an expression of 9 our sincerest condolences.
