 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois learned with regret of the death of Kevin P. Schmitt
 4    of East Peoria on Wednesday, August 27, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Kevin P. Schmitt was born on September 27, 1952
 6    in Peoria to Albert and Lucille Orth Schmitt; he was preceded
 7    in death by his mother; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mr. Schmitt worked in the insurance industry for
 9    the past 25 years and most recently owned  Schmitt  Insurance
10    for  the  past eight years; prior to that, he worked for Rick
11    Sutton Insurance and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company  and
12    was  a  field  auditor for the State of Illinois; he attended
13    Illinois Central College; and

14        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schmitt  was  a  member  of  the  Fondulac
15    Democrat Club and served as the Fondulac Democratic  precinct
16    committeeman for many years; he served on the Tazewell County
17    Board for 7 years and was serving his 12th year as supervisor
18    of Fondulac Township; he was a member of the East Peoria Fire
19    and   Police   Commission   for   4  years  and  was  a  past
20    secretary/treasurer for the Fondulac Park District; and

21        WHEREAS, Mr. Schmitt was actively involved  in  the  East
22    Peoria  Community  Baseball  League  for  the  past 32 years,
23    serving as vice president at the time of his death;  he  also
24    was  serving  on the East Peoria Community High School Alumni
25    Scholarship  Council  and  was  a  member  of  the   Illinois
26    Officials  Association, refereeing basketball in the area for
27    many years; and

28        WHEREAS, Mr. Schmitt was an  active  volunteer  with  the
29    East  Peoria  Festival  of  Lights  and  was  a member of the
30    Kiwanis Club; he was also a member of St.  Monica's  Catholic
31    Church in East Peoria; and

 1        WHEREAS,  The passing of Kevin P. Schmitt has been deeply
 2    felt by all who knew and loved him,  especially  his  father,
 3    Albert Schmitt; and his sister, Katie (Ken) Ayers; therefore,
 4    be it

 5        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
 6    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
 7    of  Kevin  P.  Schmitt and extend our deepest sympathy to his
 8    family, friends, and community; and be it further

 9        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
10    presented  to the family of Kevin P. Schmitt as an expression
11    of our sincerest condolences.
