093_SR0234 LRB093 13260 KEF 18552 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Junior B. 4 "Lefty" Ayres of Wood River on September 5, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Ayres was born October 6, 1922 in 6 Jerseyville, Illinois to the late Lee Roy and Frezia 7 (Stoeckel) Ayres; he married Laverna (Baker) Ayers in August 8 1942 in Alton; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Ayres retired after 33 years of service as a 10 salesman for WonderBread and later worked for Wedge Bank for 11 15 years; the United States Army veteran served his country 12 during World War II in the Panama Canal Zone and is a member 13 of the Alton V.F.W. Post #1308 and Alton American Legion Post 14 #126, the Alton Eagles Aerie #254, the Teamsters Local 525, 15 the Upper Alton Baptist Church, and the Western Star Lodge #1 16 I.O.O.F., where he was a recipient of his fifty year pin; and 17 WHEREAS, His favorite pasttimes were baseball, softball, 18 bowling, fishing, and hunting; he was the Baseball Chairman 19 for the American Legion Post 126 baseball program from 1972 20 until 2002 and recently had a batting cage at Gordon Moore 21 Park dedicated in his honor; he was also a past precinct 22 committeeman for the City of Alton; and 23 WHEREAS, Mr. Ayres's passing will be deeply felt by his 24 daughter, June Naugle; his two sons and a daughter-in-law, 25 Bowen Ayres, and Dr. David and Nancy Ayres; his foster son, 26 Dr. Dai Ping; his grandchildren, Sheri and Rocco Ameduri, and 27 Clay Naugle; his foster grandchildren, Alicia Ping, Jessica 28 and Kevin Mills, David and Karen Ping, and Mary and Joshua 29 Hipsher; his great grandchildren, Tara and Vincent Ameduri; 30 his brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Harriett Ayres; his 31 sister, Dardanella Boker; and other extended family and many 32 dear friends; and -2- LRB093 13260 KEF 18552 r 1 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth 2 Woodman; and a son-in-law, Robert Naugle; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 5 Junior B. "Lefty" Ayres along with all who knew and loved him 6 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; 7 and be it further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to the family of Junior B. "Lefty" Ayres as an 10 expression of our deepest sympathy.
