 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of  the  death of Roy A.
 4    Schmidt of Carlinville on May 23, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. Schmidt was born  on  January  13,  1926  in
 6    Farmersville  to John and Agusta Schwarze Schmidt; he married
 7    Doris Miller in 1947 in Carlinville; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schmidt  graduated  from  Litchfield  High
 9    School in 1943; he was a corporal  with  the  Illinois  State
10    Police  District  18,  retiring  in  1981  after  25 years of
11    service; and

12        WHEREAS, Mr. Schmidt was a member of Fraternal  Order  of
13    Police  and  Zion  Lutheran Church, where he was an elder; he
14    was a corporal in the United States Marines, serving  in  the
15    Korean War; and

16        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schmidt's  passing  will be deeply felt by
17    many, especially his wife, Doris; his two  daughters,  Debbie
18    (husband, Andy) Zilm and Kelli (husband, Randy) Chasteen; his
19    son,   Gary   Schmidt;   his  seven  grandchildren;  his  two
20    great-grandchildren; his  sister,  Irmgard  McCallister;  and
21    several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

22        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
23    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
24    Roy A. Schmidt along with all who  knew  and  loved  him  and
25    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
26    be it further

27        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
28    presented to the family of Roy A. Schmidt as an expression of
29    our deepest sympathy.
