093_SR0178 LRB093 12085 RAH 16884 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Ivery Jean 4 Jackson on May 11, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Ivery Jean Jackson "I-Jean" was the first of 6 four children born on January 23, 1964 in Chicago to John 7 Henry and Eva Jean Jackson; and 8 WHEREAS, Ivery attended Charles P. Caldwell Elementary 9 School and Hyde Park Career Academy, where with her bright 10 smile she became a school crowd favorite; and 11 WHEREAS, She loved sports and participated in Track and 12 Field at Hyde Park, where she won numerous medals and 13 ribbons; and 14 WHEREAS, Ivery also attended Olive Harvey College; 15 throughout her school career, her nickname "Shortcakes" 16 followed her; and 17 WHEREAS, Ivery was baptized and devoted her life to 18 Christ at an early age; she attended Rising Star Missionary 19 Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir; and 20 WHEREAS, Ivery embraced life and loved people; she 21 affectionately was known to care for the needs of others, 22 especially elders; she would often visit the Southeast Atlas 23 Senior Center where she volunteered time comforting the 24 residents; and 25 WHEREAS, Ivery was committed to Customer Service working 26 for various companies in the food service industry; and 27 WHEREAS, Ivery loved mathematics and writing; she was 28 considered the family secretary and would always make certain 29 that her kids homework was done; and -2- LRB093 12085 RAH 16884 r 1 WHEREAS, The passing of Ivery Jean Jackson has been 2 deeply felt by all who knew her, especially her children, 3 Latisha Jackson, Latoya Jackson, Kenya Davis (Pookie), Keenan 4 Davis (Moon), and Ivan Jackson; her parents, John H. and Eva 5 J. Jackson; her brothers, Dale Jackson and David Jackson 6 (Samaria); her sister, Latasha Jackson; her niece, Jaclyn 7 Jackson; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and her many 8 friends; therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 11 of Ivery Jean Jackson and express our sincere and deepest 12 sympathy to her family and friends; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Ivery Jean Jackson as an 15 expression of our condolences during their time of 16 bereavement.
