093_SR0154 LRB093 11802 RAH 15834 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Fred C. 4 Fettinger on April 26, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Born May 13, 1926, in Augsburg, Germany, Mr. 6 Fettinger was the firstborn of Leonhard Friedrich and Babette 7 Kreszentia Maria Gutschenreiter Fettinger; the Fettinger 8 family settled in Waukegan in 1929; and 9 WHEREAS, A 1943 graduate of Zion High School, Mr. 10 Fettinger attended Purdue University and joined the Navy 11 during World War II; upon discharge from the service, he 12 began his life career with the First National Bank of 13 Waukegan, where he served for 42 years; and 14 WHEREAS, While at the bank, he met the love of his life, 15 Dorothy Jacobs; they were married on June 17, 1950; the 16 Fettingers moved to Millburn in 1960, where Mrs. Fettinger 17 still owns and operates Fettinger's Realty Company since 18 1964; and 19 WHEREAS, Mr. Fettinger was a Cub Scout Pack Leader, a 20 board member of the Easter Seals, a member of the Millburn 21 Grade School Board of Education, and he was active in the 22 Republican Party; he worked with other members of the 23 community to preserve and protect the Village of Millburn; 24 and 25 WHEREAS, After his retirement, the Fettingers traveled 26 often; they avoided planned tours and visited parts of 27 foreign lands less seen by tourists; their travels included 28 Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, New Zealand, 29 Australia and China; and 30 WHEREAS, The passing of Fred C. Fettinger will be deeply 31 felt by his family and friends, especially by his wife, -2- LRB093 11802 RAH 15834 r 1 Dorothy; his children, Fred (Marilyn), Ann, David (Renee), 2 and Stephen (Esther); his grandchildren, Fred, Alan, John 3 Robert Boone, Laura (Don) Johnson, Jessey, Becky (Alex) 4 Ramos, and Stuart; his three great-grandchildren; his 5 mother-in-law, Clara Crump; and his sisters, Marianne 6 (Warren) Perkins and Barbara Lanphier; therefore, be it 7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 9 of Fred C. Fettinger and express our sincere and deepest 10 sympathy to his family and friends; and be it further 11 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 12 presented to the family of Fred C. Fettinger as an expression 13 of our condolences during their time of bereavement.
