093_SR0136 LRB093 11713 HSS 15460 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely 4 death of Bruce Spaulding of Bourbonnais on Saturday, April 5 26, 2003; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Spaulding was born on August 7, 1953 in 7 Manteno to Fred and Martha Jane McCleary Spaulding; he 8 married Denise Ann Daniels on June 23, 1995 in Kankakee; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Spaulding was a firefighter and EMT-B for 10 the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District; he had been a 11 member of the Bourbonnais department since January 1, 2000; 12 he also worked as a cadet advisor, fire academy professor, 13 and taught fire science to prospective firefighters and EMS 14 personnel at the Kankakee Area Career Center for the past 15 nine years; he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 16 Kankakee; and 17 WHEREAS, Mr. Spaulding had wanted to be a firefighter 18 from age three and when he was 18, the Bradley village board 19 held a special meeting to vote him onto the fire department; 20 he was one of the first members of the paramedic system at 21 Bradley and served there for 21 years; and 22 WHEREAS, The passing of Bruce Spaulding has been deeply 23 felt by his community and colleagues and especially by his 24 wife, Denise; his sons and daughter-in-law, Brian and Stacy 25 Spaulding and Andrew Campbell; his daughters and son-in-law, 26 Becky and Doug Poza and Krista Campbell; his sisters and 27 brothers-in-law, Beth and Paul Zeedyk and Paula and Dennis 28 Buhrmester; his stepsister and brother-in-law, Laurel and 29 Neal Thompson; his sister-in-law, Deborah and Richard 30 Gaffield, Sr.; his brother and sister-in-law, Steven Sr. and 31 Tamie Spaulding; his stepbrothers, David Lehnus and Jeff 32 Lehnus; his mother and stepfather, Jane and Gale Lehnus; his -2- LRB093 11713 HSS 15460 r 1 mother-in-law, Bernice Daniels; his grandson, Tyler Poza; and 2 his yellow lab, Robin; therefore, be it 3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 5 of Bruce Spaulding and extend to his friends, family, 6 community, and colleagues our deepest sympathy; and be it 7 further 8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 9 presented to the family of Bruce Spaulding as an expression 10 of our sincerest condolences during their time of 11 bereavement.
