093_SR0119 LRB093 11541 HSS 14712 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Corporal Evan 4 Tyler James, United States Marine Corps, of LaHarpe, on 5 Monday, March 24, 2003 in Iraq; and 6 WHEREAS, Corporal James died while valiantly serving his 7 country in Operation Iraqi Freedom; he was a member of the 8 First Platoon, Charlie Company of the Sixth Engineer Support 9 Battalion; and 10 WHEREAS, Corporal James was born on May 30, 1982 in 11 Macomb to Mike and Donna (Morrow) James; he graduated from 12 LaHarpe High School in 2000, where he played basketball for 13 two years and football all four years; and 14 WHEREAS, Corporal James joined the United States Marine 15 Corps Reserves in June of 2000; he worked as a lifeguard at 16 the LaHarpe Park District Pool; he attended Southern Illinois 17 University at Edwardsville, majoring in kinesiology, and he 18 worked as a fitness trainer at Our Health Club and Spa in 19 Glen Carbon; and 20 WHEREAS, The passing of Corporal Evan Tyler James has 21 been deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Mike and 22 Donna James; his grandparents, Merlin and Rosalie James and 23 Blaine and Mary Lee Morrow; his great-grandfather, Clair 24 Morrow; his sister, Nicole (Derek) Allensworth; his two 25 brothers, Craig (Nikki) James and Grant James; his niece, 26 Hailey James; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins; 27 therefore, be it 28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that together with his 30 friends, family, and this great nation, we mourn the passing 31 of Corporal Evan Tyler James, United States Marine Corps, and -2- LRB093 11541 HSS 14712 r 1 we extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and 2 be it further 3 RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal James and 4 his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making 5 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Corporal Evan Tyler James, United 8 States Marine Corps, as an expression of our sincere 9 condolences during their time of loss.
