093_SR0096 LRB093 11315 KEF 13313 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Richard H. 4 Baum of San Juan Capistrano, California, formerly a longtime 5 resident of Hinsdale, on February 24, 2003; and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Baum was born on June 19, 1928 in Chicago; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Baum was a graduate of Hinsdale High School 9 and Drake University, where he was a member of Tau Kappa 10 Epsilon; and 11 WHEREAS, Following his graduation, he worked in 12 advertising and publishing for 21 years; he later worked in 13 international trade as a senior economic attache for the 14 Quebec government in both the Chicago and Los Angeles 15 offices; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Baum served as president of the Hinsdale 17 Public Library Board and, since 1987, was involved in the L. 18 Frank Baum Family Trust, serving as trustee for the last 19 seven years; and 20 WHEREAS, Mr. Baum's knowledge and appreciation of history 21 was surpassed only by his love for his wife, golf, and the 22 Cubs; his left-handed swing earned him respect from Lemont's 23 Cog Hill to Door County's Pennisula State Park; and 24 WHEREAS, Mr. Baum's passing will be deeply felt by many, 25 especially his wife, Rosemary L.; his children, Gregory 26 (Karen), Richard (Barbara), William (Karen), and James 27 (Michelle); his grandchildren, Allison, Bryson, Grace, 28 Griffin, Jennifer, Kyle, Sam, Sarah, Shauna, and Travis; and 29 his sister, Anne (Robert) Noffke Howell; and 30 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Brenda -2- LRB093 11315 KEF 13313 r 1 and Harry Neal; therefore, be it 2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 4 of Richard H. Baum along with all who knew and loved him and 5 extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and 6 be it further 7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 8 presented to the family of Richard H. Baum with our deepest 9 sympathy.
