093_SR0085 LRB093 11262 KEF 12753 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Emil Borgini 4 of Mount Clare; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Borgini was born on November 27, 1929 in 6 Mount Clare, the son of Virgil and Helen Chelli Borgini; he 7 married Ethel Taylor in 1951 in Gillespie; and 8 WHEREAS, Mr. Borgini was a 1947 graduate of Benld 9 Township High School, received a bachelor's degree from 10 Blackburn College, and a master's degree from Southern 11 Illinois University at Edwardsville; and 12 WHEREAS, Mr. Borgini was a catcher for the Chicago Cubs 13 from 1948-51; he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War; 14 following his military service, he was catcher for the 15 Chicago Cubs minor league organization in 1953; and 16 WHEREAS, He retired as a high school teacher for Benld 17 High School, where he also coached basketball; at Gillespie 18 High School, he served as teacher, principal, baseball coach, 19 and assistant football coach; in addition, he had been the 20 unit district superintendent; and 21 WHEREAS, Mr. Borgini was a member of the Benld Lions 22 Club, the Benld Owls, the VFW Post 4547 of Gillespie, and was 23 an adult driver education instructor; he was a board member 24 of the Macoupin County Housing Authority, the Community 25 Memorial Hospital in Staunton, and the Gillespie-Benld Area 26 Ambulance Service; and 27 WHEREAS, Mr. Borgini's passing will be deeply felt by 28 many, especially his wife, Ethel; his son, Don (wife, Kathy) 29 Borgini; his daughter, Lynn Borgini; his two grandchildren; 30 his mother, Helen Borgini; and his brother, Fred Borgini; 31 therefore, be it -2- LRB093 11262 KEF 12753 r 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of 3 Emil Borgini along with all who knew and loved him and extend 4 our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Emil Borgini as an expression of 8 our deepest sympathy.
