093_SR0045 LRB093 11036 HSS 11717 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the 4 tragic deaths of 21 people in a stampede at a Chicago 5 nightclub on Monday, February 17, 2003; and 6 WHEREAS, Nicole Rainey, Teresa Johnson-Gordon, Danielle 7 Greene, and Charita Rhodes were residents of Senate District 8 4 and were victims of this tragedy; and 9 WHEREAS, Nicole Rainey of Bollingbrook and Chicago was 25 10 years old; she had attended Austin High School and was the 11 mother of 5 children, the youngest of whom is three weeks 12 old; and 13 WHEREAS, Teresa Johnson-Gordon was 31; she was a resident 14 of Berwyn and a mother of three, ages nine, six, and four; 15 she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing 16 home; and 17 WHEREAS, Danielle Green was 23 and a resident of 18 Broadview; she was an operator with AT&T Broadband and was 19 taking classes at a downtown school; she will be remembered 20 as fun-loving and easygoing; and 21 WHEREAS, Charita Rhodes was 19 and a resident of the West 22 Side; she was an Austin High School graduate taking classes 23 at Malcolm X College; she wanted to be a nurse; and 24 WHEREAS, The seventeen others who died in the panic 25 ranged in age from 21 to 43 years of age and their passing 26 will forever alter the lives of their families, friends, and 27 loved ones; they are: Nita Anthony; Robert Brown; Demetrica 28 Carwell; Bianca Ferguson; Kevin Gayden; Debra Gill; Chanta 29 Jackson; David Jones; Charles Lard; LaTorya McGraw; Antonio 30 Myers; Nicole Patterson; DaShand Ray; Damien Riley; Maurice 31 Robinson; Eazay Rogers; and Michael Wilson; therefore, be it -2- LRB093 11036 HSS 11717 r 1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the tragic 3 passing of so many people and offer our sincerest condolences 4 to their family, friends, and loved ones; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 6 presented to the families of the aforementioned victims as a 7 token of our deepest sympathy and with the sincere wish that 8 such a tragedy never occur again.
