093_SR0042 LRB093 10690 HSS 11050 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Leland R. 4 "Shorty" Parr of Carlinville on Wednesday, January 29, 2002; 5 and 6 WHEREAS, Mr. Parr was born January 8, 1929 in Taylorville 7 to Roy and Mae Corzine Parr; he married Alice Kendall on May 8 5, 1950 in Brunswick, Maine; and 9 WHEREAS, Mr. Parr graduated in 1947 from Taylorville High 10 School; he was a U.S. Navy veteran; and 11 WHEREAS, Mr. Parr was a former operator of Carlinville 12 Dairy Queen, head of maintenance at the USDA office in 13 Carlinville and also the Illinois Drivers Examination Station 14 in Carlinville, and a former Carlinville city treasurer; and 15 WHEREAS, Mr. Parr was active in several community 16 organizations; he was past president of Pana and Carlinville 17 Lions Clubs, a recipient of the Lions Melvin Jones Fellow 18 Award, and a 40 year member of the Carlinville Football Chain 19 Gang; and 20 WHEREAS, The passing of Leland Parr has been deeply felt, 21 especially by his wife, Alice; his son, Steve Parr; his 22 several cousins; and his many friends; therefore, be it 23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 24 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 25 of Leland R. "Shorty" Parr and offer our sincerest 26 condolences to his family and friends; and be it further 27 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 28 presented to the family of Leland R. Parr with our deepest 29 sympathy.
