 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn of the death of Catherine
 4    Lewis Collins of North Chicago  on  Wednesday,  December  25,
 5    2002; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Collins  was  born  November  2,  1935 in
 7    Helena, Arkansas to Frank and Cora Lewis; they  preceded  her
 8    in death; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mrs. Collins retired from the Federal Government
10    after  32 years of service; she was currently employed as the
11    City Clerk of North Chicago where she served for nine  years;
12    and

13        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Collins  was  involved in many community,
14    social,  and  civic  organizations   including   Coordinating
15    Council   for   Gang   Awareness,  Alternative  Programs  for
16    Community Youth, Lake  County  Baptist  Children  and  Family
17    Service  Advisory  Board,  Parent Anonymous Workshop Focus on
18    Child Abuse,  NAACP,  and  others;  she  spearheaded  Mothers
19    Against  Gangs, Concerned Parents and Citizens Organizations,
20    and others; she was a member  of  Shiloh  Baptist  Church  in
21    Waukegan for many years; and

22        WHEREAS, The passing of Mrs. Collins has been deeply felt
23    by  many,  especially her husband, Norman C. Collins Sr.; her
24    son, Garth  (Sabrina)  Collins;  her  two  daughters,  Kristy
25    (Todd)  Davis  and Lori Collins; her two stepsons, Norman Jr.
26    (Leona) Collins and Dennis Collins; her  four  grandchildren,
27    Garth Collins Jr., Candace Collins, Taylor Davis, and Kennedy
28    Collins; her two sisters, Ernestine (Harold) Fisher and Nancy
29    Wilkerson;  her  two nieces, Pamela (Anthony) Cowan and Tracy
30    Glover; her five nephews, Harold (Denise) Fisher Jr., Michael
31    Cannon, Kenneth Cannon, and Keith and Gregory  Reynolds;  and
32    her  many  cousins  and  other  relatives  and  dear friends;

 1    therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
 3    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE  STATE  OF ILLINOIS, that together with her
 4    family and friends, we mourn the passing of  Catherine  Lewis
 5    Collins  and  offer  them  our  deepest  sympathy;  and be it
 6    further

 7        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 8    presented  to  the family of Catherine Lewis Collins with our
 9    sincerest condolences.
