093_SR0010 LRB093 05168 HSS 05228 r 1 SENATE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of 3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Aritha 4 Mallory on Wednesday, January 8, 2003; and 5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mallory was born on July 31, 1928 in 6 Shelman, Georgia to the late James and Carrie Wilson; shortly 7 after her birth, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mallory attended Lavia Elementary School 10 and graduated from Staton High School, both in Jacksonville, 11 Florida; in 1953, she moved to Maywood where she married 12 Clarence Mallory Sr.; and 13 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mallory was an active church member from an 14 early age, first at Mount Olive Baptist Church in 15 Jacksonville, Florida, and then at Second Baptist Church in 16 Maywood where she served as president of the Senior Usher 17 Board; and 18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mallory worked for Automatic Electric as an 19 electrical inspector; she retired after 14 years of service; 20 and 21 WHEREAS, Mrs. Mallory will be remembered as a loving, 22 caring, generous, and affectionate person; she was called 23 "Sweet" by her family, because of her gentle-hearted spirit, 24 and "Rita" by her co-workers; she enjoyed cooking for her 25 family and friends and inviting others to dinner; she was 26 very family oriented; and 27 WHEREAS, One of Mrs. Mallory's greatest joys was to cook 28 for her grandchildren who were very special to her; she 29 enjoyed her time with them and she also loved to dance; and 30 WHEREAS, The passing of Aritha Mallory has been felt -2- LRB093 05168 HSS 05228 r 1 deeply by many people, especially her husband, Clarence 2 Mallory Sr.; her sister, Catherine Bing; her daughters, Betty 3 Jackson, Linda (Joe) Brown, and Sandra Mallory; her son, 4 Clarence Jr. (Charlotte); her sister-in-law, Marie Woodson; 5 her aunts, Aretta Smith, Elevira Smith, and Josephine Smith; 6 her 16 grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren; her two 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends; 8 therefore, be it 9 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL 10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing 11 of Aritha Mallory and offer our deepest sympathy to her 12 family and friends; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 14 presented to the family of Aritha Mallory with our sincerest 15 condolences.
