Amends the Department of Natural Resources (Conservation) Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that if the Department of Natural Resources adds acreage to or renovates any existing acreage in the Hazel and Bill Rutherford Wildlife Prarie State Park, then any lighting installed on the added or renovated acreage must be properly shielded to prevent light scatter into the sky.

| AN ACT concerning natural resources.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Natural Resources |

| (Conservation) Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois |

| is amended by adding Section 805-233 as follows: |

| (20 ILCS 805/805-233 new) |

| Sec. 805-233. Prevention of light pollution at State parks. |
9 |
| If the Department adds acreage to or renovates any existing |
10 |
| acreage in the Hazel and Bill Rutherford Wildlife Prarie State |
11 |
| Park, then any lighting installed on the added or renovated |
12 |
| acreage must be properly shielded to prevent light scatter into |
13 |
| the sky. The purpose of this Section is to reduce the effects |
14 |
| of light pollution at the park and allow the astronomical |
15 |
| observation of the night sky.
