Amend Senate Bill 1351 by replacing 3 everything after the enacting clause with the following: 4 "Section 5. The Acupuncture Practice Act is amended by 5 changing Section 40 as follows: 6 (225 ILCS 2/40) 7 (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2008) 8 Sec. 40. Application for licensure. Applications for 9 original licensure as an acupuncturist shall be made to the 10 Department in writing on forms prescribed by the Department 11 and shall be accompanied by the required fee, which shall not 12 be refundable. 13 Until December 31, 2001, applicants shall submit with the 14 application proof of passing the National Certification 15 Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental MedicineNational16Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists17 examination or a substantially equivalent examination 18 approved by the Department or meeting any other 19 qualifications established by the Department. 20 On and after January 1, 2002, the Department shall issue 21 a license to an applicant who submits with the application 22 proof of each of the following: -2- LRB093 04083 AMC 12442 a 1 (1)(A) graduation from a school accredited by the 2 Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental 3 MedicineNational Accreditation Commission for Schools4and Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicineor a 5 similar accrediting body approved by the Department; or 6 (B) completion of a comprehensive educational program 7 approved by the Department; and 8 (2) passing the National Certification Commission 9 for Acupuncture and Oriental MedicineNational Commission10for the Certification of Acupuncturists'examination or a 11 substantially equivalent examination approved by the 12 Department. 13 An applicant has 3 years from the date of his or her 14 application to complete the application process.
