 1        AN ACT in relation to park districts.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The Park System Civil Service Act is amended
 5    by changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (70 ILCS 1210/1) (from Ch. 24 1/2, par. 78)
 7        Sec.  1.  Application.   All  offices   and   places   of
 8    employment,  other  than  those  specifically exempted by the
 9    provisions of section 11 of this Act, in  any  park  district
10    (including  under  this  designation  any  one  or more towns
11    having under Acts adopted by such town  or  towns,  corporate
12    authorities   authorized   by  law  to  levy  taxes  for  the
13    maintenance of a public park or public parks) having  500,000
14    one  hundred  and fifty thousand or more inhabitants residing
15    within its territorial limits shall be classified and  filled
16    in  the  manner  hereinafter  provided for and not otherwise.
17    Whenever any park district  not  now  containing  within  its
18    territorial  limits 500,000 one hundred and fifty thousand or
19    more  inhabitants  shall  have  attained   such   number   of
20    inhabitants as shown by any census hereafter taken, thereupon
21    this Act shall become applicable to such park district on the
22    first  day  of  July  next  succeeding  the completion of the
23    taking of such census.

25        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
26    becoming law.
