 1        AN ACT regarding schools.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  School  Code  is  amended  by changing
 5    Section 10-22.35 as follows:

 6        (105 ILCS 5/10-22.35) (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.35)
 7        Sec. 10-22.35.  Civil defense shelters.  To  make  school
 8    buildings available for use as civil defense shelters for all
 9    persons;  to cooperate with the Illinois Emergency Management
10    Agency,  local  organizations  for  civil  defense,  disaster
11    relief organizations, including the American Red  Cross,  and
12    federal   agencies  concerned  with  civil  defense  relative
13    thereto,  including,  but  not  limited  to,   making   space
14    available  for  the  stocking of shelters with food and other
15    provisions;  and  to  cooperate  with   such   agencies   and
16    organizations  in  the use of other resources, equipment, and
17    facilities,  and  to  cooperate  with   such   agencies   and
18    organizations in the construction of new buildings to the end
19    that the buildings be so designed that shelter facilities may
20    be provided.

22        Section  99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect upon
23    becoming law.
