1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 629
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 629 as follows:
3 on page 2, by replacing lines 8 through 21 with the
4 following:
5 "(c) Profits on sales from commissary stores shall be
6 expended by the Department for the special benefit of
7 committed persons which shall include but not limited to the
8 advancement of inmate payrolls, for the special benefit of
9 employees, and for the advancement or reimbursement of
10 employee travel, provided that amounts expended for employees
11 shall not exceed the amount of profits derived from sales
12 made to employees by such commissaries, as determined by the
13 Department.
14 Any funds expended pursuant to this Section for the
15 benefit of employees shall be allocated based on the
16 recommendations of an Employee Benefit Committee to be
17 comprised of equal numbers of representatives from management
18 and the employees' collective bargaining representative at
19 each facility."; and
20 by replacing line 33 on page 2 and lines 1 through 7 on page
21 3 with the following:
22 "non-tobacco products from 3% through 10%. A compliance audit
23 of all"; and

2 following:
3 "Nothing in this Section precludes the Department from
4 continuing to contract with a private vendor at a facility at
5 which commissary services have been operated by a private
6 vendor prior to April 1, 2003.".
