 1        AN ACT concerning livestock.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Humane  Slaughter  of Livestock Act is
 5    amended by changing Section 5 as follows:

 6        (510 ILCS 75/5) (from Ch. 8, par. 229.55)
 7        Sec. 5. The Director shall administer this Act. He or she
 8    shall promulgate and may from time to time revise  rules  and
 9    regulations in connection with this Act. The Director may, by
10    administrative  order,  exempt from compliance with this Act,
11    for a period of not to exceed one year  after  the  effective
12    date  of this Act, any slaughterer if, in the judgment of the
13    Director, earlier compliance would cause undue hardship.
