| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of |
4 |
| Loretta Murphy of Markham, the wife of former State |
5 |
| Representative Harold Murphy, on November 25, 2004; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, "Buttons" was born Loretta Wiggins on July 22, |
7 |
| 1939 to Mary Young and Edward Wiggins in Eldorado, Arkansas; |
8 |
| she was the eldest of five children, and was reared in Eldorado |
9 |
| by her grandmother, Mary Woodard; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Loretta attended and completed school in |
11 |
| Arkansas; she relocated to Chicago with her mother in 1957, |
12 |
| where she attended the South Suburban College; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, She married Harold Murphy on May 19, 1958, and |
14 |
| they have three children; Loretta and Harold have been 41-year |
15 |
| residents of the City of Markham, where Loretta has faithfully |
16 |
| served and supported community and public service; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, She united spiritual fellowship with Christ |
18 |
| Temple Missionary Baptist Church, and later with the Victory |
19 |
| Christian Assembly Church, both in Markham; she was a member of |
20 |
| the Eastern Star; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Loretta was employed as an Administrative |
22 |
| Secretary for the Cook County Department of Corrections and the |
23 |
| Jesse "Ma" Houston Facility; through many years of loyal |
24 |
| support to her husband's public service career, she |
25 |
| affectionately earned the title of "Assistant State |
26 |
| Representative"; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and |
28 |
| Edward; and her brothers, Earl Young, Jr. and Kevin Young; and
|
