| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Peter Giannopoulos of Inverness |
3 |
| died in action on November 11, 2004 in the Babil Province in |
4 |
| Iraq; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Peter graduated in 2000 from Fremd High School in |
6 |
| Palatine; he was a goaltender on the varsity ice hockey team, a |
7 |
| member of the school's model United Nations, and a National |
8 |
| Merit finalist; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, He was very committed to serving his country and |
10 |
| he enlisted when he was 17; he was assigned to the Marine Corps |
11 |
| Reserve's 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine |
12 |
| Division, out of Waukegan; he has planned to transfer to |
13 |
| Northern Illinois University from Purdue University when his |
14 |
| unit was activated in June; he had been serving in Iraq since |
15 |
| mid-September; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Peter is survived by his parents and two younger |
17 |
| brothers; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Peter served with honor and distinction and his |
19 |
| courage and valor will not be forgotten; therefore, be it
|
20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
21 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
22 |
| together with his family, friends, fellow members of the United |
23 |
| States armed forces, and the citizens of this State and this |
24 |
| great nation, we mourn the passing of Corporal Peter |
25 |
| Giannopoulos and we extend to his family our sincerest |
26 |
| condolences; and be it further
|
27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
29 |
| sympathy.
