HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Glenn R. Meyer of Steeleville is completing 12
3 years of service as Director of District 16 of the Illinois
4 Agricultural Association; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Glenn Meyer was elected to the Illinois Farm
6 Bureau Board of Directors in 1992 to represent District 16,
7 which includes St. Clair, Clinton, Washington, Monroe,
8 Randolph, and Perry counties; Glenn serves on the Board's
9 Illinois Government Committee, the ACTIVATOR Executive
10 Committee, and the IAA Foundation Board of Trustees; he also
11 serves on the Country Trust Bank Board, and as the interlocking
12 member on the board of the Illinois Specialty Growers
13 Association; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He is a 40-year Farm Bureau member; he joined the
15 Randolph County Farm Bureau Board in 1958, serving on the Young
16 Farmers, Local Affairs, Public Relations, Sports, Legislative,
17 and Viewpoint Committees; Glenn was county Farm Bureau
18 President for five years, and a delegate to the annual IFB
19 meetings; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He served on the Illinois Soybean Association
21 Board from 1989 to 1993, acting as Vice President and
22 Secretary, as well as Chairman of the Domestic Promotions
23 Committee; he served two years as President of the Randolph
24 County Pork Producers Board and received the Superior Pork
25 Award; he was named Master Farmer by Prairie Farmer Magazine in
26 1989; and
 
27     WHEREAS, He has participated in American Farm Bureau's
28 Adopt-A-Scientist program; he has served as a county board
29 member on the Farmers Home Administration; he has also served
30 on the Randolph County Soil Conservation Service Board; he is a
31 former leader of the Wine Hill Toppers 4-H Club, having led for

1 25 years; he is a member of St. Mark's Luthern Church in
2 Steeleville and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran School
3 Board for six years and a 13-year member of the Steeleville
4 Community Unit School District; and
 
5     WHEREAS, In 2004, Glenn retired from his farming operation
6 of 1,300 acres of corn, soybeans, and wheat; he and his wife of
7 44 years, Carol, continue to grow and operate their greenhouse
8 and raise small fruits and vegetables, as well as bedding
9 plants for the public; they are well known locally for their
10 strawberries, blackberries, and seasonal vegetables; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Glenn's family circle, in addition to his loving
12 and long-supporting partner and spouse, Carol, includes a son,
13 Glenn, Jr., and grandchildren, Brittany, John, Matthew, and
14 Kaitlin Meyer, and a daughter, Annette and husband, Kelly
15 Heisdorffer, and grandchildren, Julieann and Isaac
16 Heisdorffer; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 honor Glenn Meyer upon the occasion of his completion of 12
20 years of exemplary service as Director of District 16 of the
21 Illinois Agricultural Association and we commend him for his
22 long and distinguished work in support of agriculture; and be
23 it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Glenn Meyer as an expression of our respect and
26 esteem.
