| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Elective Bethrone Harris-Phillips of Chicago |
| 3 |
| passed away on September 4, 2004; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, She was born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 1, |
| 5 |
| 1924, the daughter of Albretta Johnson-Harris and Calvin |
| 6 |
| Harris; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, She completed her education and began working for |
| 8 |
| Stewart-Warner; she then explored practical nursing and |
| 9 |
| teaching careers, retiring from CAMS in 1987; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, She married John Phillips in 1951 and they had a |
| 11 |
| daughter, Stephanie; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Phillips a loving helpmate and caregiver to |
| 13 |
| her mother and siblings and she was a phenomenal cook; during |
| 14 |
| her early years she was an active member of Gorham Methodist |
| 15 |
| Church's "Circle Number 6" Ladies Auxiliary, and the Woodlawn |
| 16 |
| Organization; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Elective Bethrone Harris-Phillips |
| 18 |
| will be deeply felt by many, especially her daughter, |
| 19 |
| Stephanie; her granddaughter, Brooke; her siblings, Henry, |
| 20 |
| Mellolee, and Albert; and her many nieces, nephews, friends, |
| 21 |
| and in-laws; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 24 |
| that we mourn the death of Elective Bethrone Harris-Phillips |
| 25 |
| along with all who knew and loved her and we extend our sincere |
| 26 |
| condolences to her family and friends during their time of |
| 27 |
| bereavement; and be it further; and be it further
