HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Emelda Augustine Hilbring of Chicago passed away
3 on September 6, 2004; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Affectionately nicknamed "Patsy", she was born a
5 twin on January 2, 1924 in Chicago to Oliver Gregoire and
6 Louise Marie Gregoire; she graduated from St. Anselm's Grammar
7 School and Englewood High School; she married George Henry
8 Hilbring, Jr. on September 30, 1945 in Chicago and they had
9 four children; he passed away in 1997 after 51 years of
10 marriage; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She worked for various companies, including
12 Kellogg Switchboard and Supply Company, Teletype Corporation
13 and Union Carbide Corporation, where she retired in 1983;
14 although she worked full-time, she devoted her life to raising
15 her children and she was always willing to volunteer for for
16 bingo games, luncheons, field trips, planning committees, and
17 providing transportation for the nuns; she was an active member
18 of the Mothers Club, which provided wholesome activities for
19 the children; and
 
20     WHEREAS, She had a zest for life; she enjoyed glee club,
21 dancing, and sharing a good laugh with her close friends
22 Frances Parker and June Hawkins; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Emelda Hilbring will be deeply felt
24 by her family and friends, especially her children, Patricia,
25 Donald, George, and William; her grandchildren, Maria (Sean)
26 Armstead, Angela (Jonathan) Swain, Monique (Mark) Rodgers,
27 George IV (Danielle), Veronica, Eric, and Donald; her
28 great-grandchildren, Jonathan David and Isaiah Michael Swain,
29 Karyn Elise Armstead and Abby Marie Hilbring; her siblings
30 Oliver Gregoire (Joyce), Aleda Rice (Twin), Edward (Delores)
31 Gregoire, and Helen (Ferrell) Daste; her sisters-in-law Gloria

1 Merrill, Irma (the late William) Hilbring, and Zipporah (the
2 late Hudson) McKissack; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and
3 friends; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 mourn the death of Emelda Augustine Hilbring along with all who
7 knew and loved her and extend our sincere condolences to her
8 family and friends during their time of bereavement; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
12 sympathy.
