| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in |
4 |
| the lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Jane Ramsey has served as Executive Director of |
6 |
| the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs for 25 years, presiding |
7 |
| over a period of success and growing membership; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) is |
9 |
| recognizing her 25 years of leadership on November 13, 2004; |
10 |
| and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, As Executive Director of JCUA, she has worked for |
12 |
| the benefit of all Chicagoans by addressing important issues |
13 |
| such as homelessness and community displacement, community |
14 |
| reinvestment, police conduct, unemployment, racism, and |
15 |
| anti-Semitism; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, She has been a lifelong activist and has dedicated |
17 |
| her life to improving the condition of Chicago's most |
18 |
| disenfranchised residents; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, She has inspired countless others to strive for |
20 |
| social justice in her capacity as a lecturer and field |
21 |
| organizer for the University of Chicago, School of Social |
22 |
| Service Administration; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, During a leave of absence from JCUA, she advised |
24 |
| Mayor Harold Washington on issues affecting Chicago's diverse |
25 |
| neighborhoods as Director of Community Relations for the Office |
26 |
| of the Mayor; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, She has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to |
28 |
| the well-being of Chicago through her service on numerous |
