| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives are |
3 |
| pleased to honor organizations that provide valuable services |
4 |
| to their communities; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, Hispanocare, Inc., was founded in 1988 by Illinois |
6 |
| Masonic Medical Center as a not-for-profit network of nearly |
7 |
| 300 bilingual healthcare providers in order to offer the Latino |
8 |
| community in the Chicago metropolitan area quality, |
9 |
| cost-effective healthcare in a culturally sensitive manner; |
10 |
| and |
11 |
| WHEREAS, Hispanocare, Inc., offers free or discounted |
12 |
| membership in a comprehensive program that includes access to |
13 |
| bilingual healthcare providers in a wide range of specialties, |
14 |
| discounts on out-of-pocket medical expenses, discounts on |
15 |
| healthcare needs not traditionally covered by insurance, and |
16 |
| the "La Edad de Oro" program, which provides discounts on |
17 |
| prescriptions and optometry, podiatry, and dental care |
18 |
| services to senior citizens; and |
19 |
| WHEREAS, Hispanocare's importance in the community is |
20 |
| evidenced by a significant growth in its membership in recent |
21 |
| years and the expansion of its service area to include not only |
22 |
| the City of Chicago but also surrounding suburbs; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, Hispanocare demonstrates its mission of community |
24 |
| outreach by participating in community health fairs, offering |
25 |
| free preventive services and screenings and vaccinations, |
26 |
| hosting public symposia, publishing an editorial column in La |
27 |
| Raza newspaper, and providing a scholarship program for Latino |
28 |
| students entering the healthcare field; therefore, be it
