| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, |
3 |
| community-based
voluntary health organization dedicated to |
4 |
| eliminating cancer as a major health
problem by preventing
|
5 |
| cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, |
6 |
| through research,
education,
advocacy, and service; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society consists of more than |
8 |
| two million
Americans united to
conquer cancer through balanced |
9 |
| programs of research, education, advocacy, and
service;
the |
10 |
| dollars raised from the American Cancer Society and Relay For |
11 |
| Life are used
to
provide hope for the future, progress toward a |
12 |
| cure, and answers to cancer
questions and concerns; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, The 2004 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life |
14 |
| in Clinton County
is set for August 13th, 2004; all cancer
|
15 |
| survivors are invited to celebrate life and the hope for a cure |
16 |
| by walking the
first lap at the relay; therefore, be it
|
17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
18 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
19 |
| commend the Relay for Life and this unique community event that |
20 |
| allows individuals from all over to join in the fight against |
21 |
| cancer and celebrate life for survivors, mourn the loss of |
22 |
| loved ones, and rally for their community to fight cancer; and |
23 |
| be it further
|
24 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
25 |
| presented to
the Relay for Life organizers Derrick Husmann, |
26 |
| Dana Timmermann, and Jeannie Pollmann as an expression of our |
27 |
| esteem.
