HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of
4 Riley Franklin Bridgers; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Riley Franklin Bridgers was born to the union of
6 Ophelia Franklin Bridgers and Hardy Bridgers on December 6,
7 1937, in Chicago; he was the second of four children; he
8 graduated from the John Farren Elementary and Parker High
9 Schools, and enjoyed playing football at Parker; he accepted
10 Christ at a young age; he spent many years as a boy scout at the
11 old St. Mark Methodist Church; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the
13 University of Illinois at Champaign in Physical Education; he
14 joined the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Beta Chapter; this
15 lifelong commitment continued with the Chicago Heights Chapter
16 and then with the Chicago Chapter; after graduation, he worked
17 for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for a couple of
18 years; he was then employed by the Chicago Public School System
19 as a teacher; he returned to school and earned a Masters Degree
20 in Social Studies and Political Science at Northeastern
21 Illinois University in Chicago, and an Administrative
22 Certificate from Chicago State University; and
 
23     WHEREAS, He worked at a number of elementary schools for 38
24 years before retiring from the Wendell Smith Elementary School
25 in 2001; and
 
26     WHEREAS, The passing of Riley Franklin Bridgers will be
27 deeply felt by many, especially his brother, Maurice (Alma);
28 his sisters, Ruth Bridgers and Ophelia Pirtle; his favorite
29 niece, Shalanna Pirtle; his special cousins, Lee Wade, Emma
30 McClennon, Emmitt J. Wade (Angie), and E. James Wade (Crystal);
31 and many other cousins and friends; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 mourn the death of Riley Franklin Bridgers along with all who
4 knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his
5 family and friends; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Riley Franklin Bridgers as an
8 expression of our deepest sympathy.
