| WHEREAS, The members of this House of Representatives have |
3 |
| always been proud supporters of the First Amendment and |
4 |
| admirers of the journalistic practitioners who strive to keep |
5 |
| the public informed on the works of government; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, From time to time, certain practitioners display a |
7 |
| special knack for the craft and a unique understanding of the |
8 |
| impact the work of the legislature has on the day-to-day lives |
9 |
| of Illinois citizens; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, One of those practitioners is Illinois Radio |
11 |
| Network Statehouse reporter Eva Golterman; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Following stellar academic performances at |
13 |
| Galesburg High School and Bradley University, Eva Golterman |
14 |
| began a distinguished career reporting for radio stations in |
15 |
| Illinois and Iowa; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, While a journalism career can sometimes have an |
17 |
| adversarial relationship with the government, Eva Golterman's |
18 |
| understanding is grounded in the experience of her mother, |
19 |
| Caroline Porter, the first women elected to the Knox County |
20 |
| Board; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, These efforts led her to the Illinois Statehouse, |
22 |
| where, for 15 years, Eva Golterman has skillfully informed |
23 |
| listeners about State government without ever using inside |
24 |
| jargon like shell bill, concurrence, and postponed |
25 |
| consideration to confuse or complicate her reports; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, While the joys of Statehouse reporting are |
27 |
| plentiful, Eva Golterman has opted to take her award winning |
28 |
| career in another direction through the establishment of a |
29 |
| public relations consulting business; therefore, be it
