| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Officer William |
4 |
| D. Freeman on the occasion of his retirement; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Officer William D. Freeman retired from the |
6 |
| Chicago Police Department on June 15, 2004; he demonstrated his |
7 |
| commitment to law enforcement, the Chicago Police Department, |
8 |
| and the residents of Chicago, by serving 40 years on the police |
9 |
| force; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Freeman completed his field training in |
11 |
| the 11th Police District and was assigned to the 13th Police |
12 |
| District; he conducted Foot Patrol in the Henry Horner Homes in |
13 |
| 1968 during a turbulent time in our country's history; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Freeman has made it home to his family at |
15 |
| the end of every shift for the last 40 years; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Freeman has received numerous accolades |
17 |
| for his service, including several Commendations from the |
18 |
| Chicago Police Department, Letters of Compliment from the |
19 |
| citizens of Chicago, the Public Service Award from the Junior |
20 |
| Chamber of Commerce, the Community Service Award from the |
21 |
| Pilgrim Rest Church, and the SPSA Superior Service Award; he |
22 |
| has also received many honorable mentions from the Chicago |
23 |
| Police Department for apprehending criminals and solving |
24 |
| crimes; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Freeman has contributed significantly to |
26 |
| busting up street gangs; he has mentored numerous young men to |
27 |
| provide them alternatives to joining gangs; he made a personal |
28 |
| investment in Chicago communities and residents to create safer |
29 |
| streets, schools, and neighborhoods; therefore, be it
