| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to recognize James "Jimmy" Jones of |
4 |
| Belleville for his many contributions to music and the arts; |
5 |
| and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jones is a seasoned professional entertainer |
7 |
| with more that 40 years of experience in the music industry; he |
8 |
| is also an accomplished author of "Sweet-Hot-Blue"; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, From 1951 to 1954, Mr. Jones entertained the |
10 |
| United States Troops in Guam and Japan with the "Just Rhythm |
11 |
| Show"; and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, Upon returning home in 1954, he began his career |
13 |
| with Jimmilyn Records in Belleville, a full service recording |
14 |
| company; he is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating |
15 |
| Officer and provides his management experience in studio |
16 |
| production; he has worked with such recording artists as the |
17 |
| late Tab Smith, and gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jones taught music theory and arranging at |
19 |
| Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville for two years; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jones has been married to his wife, Mrs. Nancy |
21 |
| L. Jones, for 25 years; they have 8 foster children, Lakia, |
22 |
| Latricia, Chantay, Timyra, Christopher, Joshua, Keontee, and |
23 |
| Donte'; and |
24 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Jones and his family are faithful members of |
25 |
| St. Henry Catholic Church in Belleville; and |
26 |
| WHEREAS, A special tribute will be held at the East St. |
27 |
| Louis Senior High School Auditorium on June 27, 2004 in honor |
28 |
| of James "Jimmy" Jones's dedication and his many years of |
