| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois wish to thank the organizers, volunteers, and |
4 |
| participants who made the 2004 Centralia Relay for Life
a |
5 |
| success; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Relay for Life is an annual fundraiser for the
|
7 |
| American Cancer Society; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, 39 teams participated in this year's Centralia |
9 |
| Relay for Life and raised more than $86,000; the event has |
10 |
| raised more than $843,000 for the American Cancer Society since |
11 |
| its first run in 1996; 184 cancer
survivors participated in the |
12 |
| opening lap, which is traditionally
known as the Survivors' |
13 |
| Lap; the co-chairwomen of the event were Hilari Claytor and |
14 |
| Christy Williams; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Participation in the Relay for Life helps to |
16 |
| ensure that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that |
17 |
| those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, |
18 |
| cancer will be eliminated; therefore, be it
|
19 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
20 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
21 |
| congratulate the organizers, volunteers, and participants |
22 |
| whose dedication and hard work made the 2004 Centralia Relay |
23 |
| for Life such a successful event; and be it further
|
24 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
|
25 |
| presented to 2004 Centralia Relay for Life co-chairwomen Hilari |
26 |
| Claytor and Christy Williams as an expression of our sincere |
27 |
| gratitude and respect.
