| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to honor John Lord for his many |
4 |
| years of service as the Naperville Municipal Band's sound |
5 |
| engineer; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lord valiantly served his country during World |
7 |
| War II in General Patton's Third Army at the Battle of the |
8 |
| Bulge; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lord went on to work for 5 years in radio and |
10 |
| television at KGLO AM/FM/TV in Mason City, Iowa, where he met |
11 |
| Ann Good of Naperville; they were married on August 14, 1954; |
12 |
| and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lord worked for DuKane Electronics in their |
14 |
| Audio-Visual Division for 25 years; he acted as ringmaster for |
15 |
| the Naperville Municipal Band Circus concerts; one memorable |
16 |
| night with the band is when Mr. Lord impersonated Maurice |
17 |
| Chevalier and sang "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" at a concert |
18 |
| featuring Broadway songs; he served as the sound engineer for |
19 |
| the Municipal Band for 45 years until he retired in 2002; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, The Naperville Municipal Band was first organized |
21 |
| in 1859 and became a municipal band in 1931; the band performs |
22 |
| free outdoor concerts each Thursday night in Naperville's |
23 |
| Central Park during the summer as well as several indoor |
24 |
| concerts during the winter; the band is the proud recipient of |
25 |
| the Sudler Silver Scroll Award and the Sudler Historic Band |
26 |
| Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; in 2000, the band |
27 |
| was chosen for the Local Legacy Award from the U.S. Library of |
28 |
| Congress and the U.S. House of Representatives; and
|

| WHEREAS, At the weekly concert on Thursday, June 24, 2004, |

| Mr. Lord will be honored with some special presentations for |
